I think that due to the tone that is going on in the forums lately, some name changes are appropriate.
The General Forum --- has turned in to The Personal Attacks Forum.
There are still little cute threads going on but it just feels so not fun, so unpleasent. because this forum is just insults and attacks when it comes down to it.
The Chess Forum --- has turned into The Accusaitons Forum.
All about accusing people just because they play chess well.It's redicoulos.
The Debate Forum --- has turned into The Whinning Forum
Debates are almost gone. I have'nt seen a good debate for a long time.
Ivanhoe keeps whinning about The wolfpack and No1Marauder.
No1 is whinning about Prad and his post that got deleted.
Everyone are still whinning about the Moderators.
Everyone are still whinning about Cribs!
All this is bits of what is going in the forums lately. It is horrible. And the ironic thing is that we do it to ourselves.
Why do we attack one another over and over again?
Why do we accuse one another over and over again?
Some of you find this amusing, but just 15 minutes ago I got the 3rd PM this month from friends thinking of leaving the site. For what reason? The current bad atmosphere going on in the forums.
So please, Think about RHP the next time before you say something insulting, think about your friends and how you wouldnt want them to leave the site. Think about playing chess. Dont think about fighting.
I know that this may sound stupid, but even if I know that just one person will think twice beofre attacking someone thanks to this thread I'll be happy.And I know that I am not the only one who is not happy with the forums lately.
This is also a good oppurtunity to apologize to all I have offended in the past, I will do my best not to do so again in the future.

I keep whining about Bbarr and No1 ? Have you been following events, Faith No More ? Are you defending these two major trouble makers ?

Come on, FNM is just trying to make this a better site. Who cares if there are troublemakes? I mean, aren't they just gonna keep making trouble if people fight with them? In all seriousness, there are always going to be people coming and going. When you have a community of 75000 people, some are always going to be leaving. Some people may be turned off by 'the tone' as you put it, others by Ivanhoe's crusade for Pro-Life, others by what they would call the innanity of some of the posts in the General forum. Similarly, other people will be drawn to these very same things.
You cannot please everyone; it's just not possible.

I will agree that there are a lot of things going on right now and have been for awhile that are not great.
But I really can't remember any period of time in the 2+ years I've spent on the forums that there weren't squabbles going on. Some more serious than others, but they happen daily. Someone's mad about a timeout, someone thinks that person is cheating, this person is offending others, that person has a bad attitude, that person doesn't know how to run his clan, this person is abusing the vacation flag, religion fights, culture of death fights, U.S. versus the world..........blah blah blah
If you really stop and think about it, RHP is the same now as it has always been. How many times before this "tone of the forums" that people are talking about did you see SlowPawn yelling at somebody about clan business, Chancrematic (I still can't spell that right) yelling about the military, Ivanhoe accusing somebody (usually Bbarr) of *insert catchphrase here*, Prad arguing about veganism, etc? EVERYDAY!!!!
There were some pretty heavy issues going on the last couple of months. It does happen. You get this many people together in a community that communicate every single day and problems happen. You get through it and go on.
My point (I'm getting as bad as Nemesio and his full page ramblings 😉 ) : Leaving doesn't solve anything. If anything it adds to the problem because there aren't enough of the lighthearted, wacky threads to even out the 2 extremes.
Things will blow over and people who are staying away till then will come back, and the village of Redhotpawnia will thrive once again, like it always has and always will.
