I first heard this seldom played classic by Bach in the 1973 movie The Paper Chase. It's taken me 40+ years to find it because it wasn't listed in the credits,. JMHO - This is a gem.

2 versions are below. 🙂

Delightful! It's impossible to listen to Bach without smiling.

I've just noticed that there was an early '80s television show of the same name. (I was out of the country during that period.)
John Houseman was an icon of our stern western work ethic. I'll give a few episodes a watch on YT, but I doubt that they're as good as the '73 original film.
J.S. Bach and a young Lindsay Wagner: What a great combination!

If you enjoyed the film, you should watch the series, if you have access to it. It won many awards for the acting, directing and production.

I watched quite a few of those TV episodes. Good lessons on the law to be learned from them, and good acting too. The one drawback on the TV series, was they made the characters of Kingsfield and Bell to be nice guys, while the book and original movie showed their dark side. JMHO - I think the movie was a bit more realistic.
