As you know,I had to have one of my beloved cats put down earlier this week. That night, after seeing the bewildered look on my other cats face, wondering where his friend was,I knew I had to get another cat,for both our sakes. So,I went to the shelter where I had adopted my last 2 cats, and found exactly what I wanted in the very first cat I was shown. Her name is Suzie,a solid white shorthair, with green eyes, and the sweetest disposition. If all goes well,Suzie will be coming home with me on Friday. I urge all my fellow RHP'ers,if you can,go down to your nearest shelter, especially one that is forced to euthanize, and adopt yourself a friend,or two,for life. You will be saving an animal's life, giving them a good home, and getting yourself more unconditional love than you can handle.

You're doing a good thing. We have had rescue animals and they are simply the best as they know how bad it was. Here's a look at my tribe. www.coonhound.100megsdns.com/Happy/boomhower.htm

You are both good people. I have had two dogs and three cats that I have gotten from the human society, I still have one cat and one dog from those and could not ask for better companions.
But for those who are to adopt please be very carefull, with the adult animals if you have any small children. The rescue people will help you with any concerns of an animal.

I love animals, but cats are my favorites. I've owned cats(or they've owned me!)all my adult life, and I couldn't conceive of not having at least one around.A pet is not just a pet,he is a friend that will never desert you, fair weather or foul, good times or bad(that's when you're really glad they're there for you!)

I took in a stray cat, showed up here 3 years ago starving and is thriving now. I wonder how it knew to come here? Just luck I guess.

I found a puppy at the city dump. We had seen her mom with two or three pups before, and we would leve food for her. Then one day the Mom was dead on the side of the road.
The next day one of the pups was dead in the brush.
A few days later this pup was sitting near the road. Sh was totally hairless, her belly was swollen huge, and she was just staring into space. I argued with my sister about getting her. I finally got out and put down some dry dog food.
She was starving. She started to walk to it, then collapsed. I walked to her, thinking she might try to bite me. She was terrified. AS I walked up to her, she started to whimper and cry. I carefully picked her up and put her in the bed of the truck and took her home. I penned her up and fed and watered her. She was very quick to tame, and is a very sweet dog. She is one of those "nature gone wrong dogs": too long , too short, and just plain goofy looking, but she ishe is a sweety. She is healthy and happy now.
