Had a young kitten once.

Wanted to keep her indoors all the time cause she was perfectly white (rare and could be nicked and kept). Played with her approx. one and a half hours a day. Was told that this should be enough.
Ended in destroying and peeing everything although toilet was clean and she was trained to go there. Never ever did her any harm. Put her into the pound cause other cat holders told me that was not normal. Came only once to me in order to get patted (bad translation sorry).

Never ever any animal which is not behind barrs or glass. The wood floor would stinkl like dead when peed on and a dog would ruin it with its claws. Stick to caged or glass animals or save the money and stress.

those are all good points, fellas. I'll go for the fish tank, full
with species that reproduce fast and easily, and then get an old
cat, so the kitty eats the fish and not only he remains entertained
but also well fed

😉

A dog for sure. Cats don't come to you when you call them.
My cat does. But only when she is hungry, I think.

Cats can be very affectionate and lovely. I recommend cats especially if you/your family are busy people. Cats can go for a walk themselves, look after themselves well, while dogs need regular shampooing etc. Dogs are demanding, barks loud and can make atomosphere sour. Cats are very independent animals, and their presence makes you feel nice because they are so very pretty.

My opinion/advice: Go to the pound. You can find something young and healthy, and something that will love you there. The animals there need people to help them. Find a mixed-breed, they are generally healthier and have nicer temperments.

Good luck.
This is an excellent idea. I have several rescue dogs now and would be glad to give you one as I am trying to [place them in a good home. I think the most important thing to consider if you decide on a dog is your level of activity. I highly recommend you read "My Way" by Cesar Millan. It will change your way of experiencing dogs. Good luck. PM me if you live close to Kentucky.

I know, compadre, but I am all day pursuing the enchilada at
the office, y un pinche perro me va a cagar toda la casa cuando
se aburra 😞

Rescue a dachshund. They're the coolest pets of all. They don't shed or stink. They're happy to be inside or outside. Great watchdogs, lapdogs and they're entertaining as heck. And they poop small LOL!

I have cats, 5 aquariums and 2 dachsunds. Have also had ferrets, you name it. Get more pleasure out of the doxies than any pet I've ever had.

Doxies rule!

P.S. I live in a townhouse with no back yard. Mine were easily paper-trained. These are effortless dogs and a blast to be around.

Oh, and you'll spend much more on $$ aquarium upkeep, filters, buying fish, water conditioners, accessories, water tests, light kits, etc than you ever would on a doxie. And the doxie will snuggle up to you 😉 while the fish won't LOL.

Adopt a retired racing greyhound. Too big? Then get a whippet, either way you'll have a great pal.

get a chicken or a rabbit instead. then when it grows up and isn't cute anymore, you can eat it...
