This reminds me of a Leave it to Beaver episode.
He had a spanish friend but he couldnt speak very much spanish.
Eddy Haskel told him he would teach him to say "gee your a really swell guy Turo".
But what he really told him to say in Spanish meant you have the face of a pig!

He lost his friend over that.

Not Afrikaans. Dutch or Flemish, which is very similar.
