Returning to a man who abandoned me when I left home to pursue education.

After gaining sponsorship, walking many miles without shoes to find a school, educate myself, and graduate from an English University, I eventually found myself with a pair of shoes I had been given by a foster family. They were called 'Church's', and I only ever found out how much they were worth when I was told as much. I treasured them and polished them daily.

After graduating, and earning some money, I returned to my little box to see mum and dad, mum was dying and I returned too late. I missed her demise.

Father was upset, but in Thailand feet are very important, especially their display, pointing direction and general usage so I gave him my shoes. He never wore shoes, only sandals. He was proud.

I went off to pursue more matters of personal development, and after 4 years I returned to my village. I hired a car - unheard of in my vicinities. I rolled up, searched for dad, (mum had passed), and found him where I was expecting him to be. He was toiling the fields, knee deep in mud, planting rice in over-filled rai, but still working himself to keep opportunity.

I shouted, and he looked. He came running. He had the Church shoes I had given him on his feet. He had never taken them off after I left. I'm sure they were full of pebbles and ants and all the mud, but he had kept a part of me.

The price of shoes hey?

You're talking to me, Mikelom. Subterfuge and cutesy deflection don't cut it now or ever. Slow down. Look in the mirror

(of your soul). The curious correlation of the substance of your several posts within the past few hours is compelling.

I would consider to like to be compelling, and somewhat interesting. Unfortunately, I am not as important as you are. 😉

Hurt puppy deflection is about as sorry as clown comparisons are awkward and odious. What's really interesting here, in an internecine way, is that only the two of us have the least clue as to the genesis, crux and thrust of this public conversation. Hold that thought. On a playful note, the two of us carrying kindred guidons would probably produce unparalled victories, vanquishing common foes and universal enemies of mankind. History would record our joint exploits of slaughter as being of mythical proportions.
