Running a business means occasional calls to tech support to clear up issues that inevitably arise. Usually, 30-60 seconds with a live human being is all it takes; now we get (stupid name) your virtual AI assistant. In addition to NOT fixing anything (stupid name) takes 45 min. and asks for the same information no less than 5 times, taking one back to the main menu each time. Is this really what tech firms are dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into? Sometimes I wish were back in the days of ledger sheets and card file box's!! π
Sorry - I just had to vent....

@mchill saidI take your point, but I’ve never once had a tech issue sorted out in 30-60 seconds by a human. It goes more like this:

- call tech support and ask for help
- they ask you if you’ve raised a ticket
- you explain you can’t because your device isn’t working
- they suggest using a different device
- you explain you haven’t got the “tech support app” on your phone
- they suggest you log in on your phone via their website, set up a new account, log in and raise a ticket
- you do this
- next morning you’ve had no reply and your laptop screen is still “blue”
- you call tech support again but there’s a voice message saying they’re in a team huddle for the next hour
- you call again and all the lines are busy because of the back log from the team huddle
- you email them and get an auto reply asking you to raise a ticket
- your boss calls you and asked why you’re not answering their email about something urgent
- you call tech support again and they explain that the new account you set up via their website isn’t linked to your corporate app account
- you ask them if they can do that for you and they tell you to raise a ticket
- your get a little upset and the text support guy whom you’re now becoming friends with over the phone raises a ticket on your behalf
- two hours later you get a call telling you bring your laptop to the tech dept as they can’t fix ‘blue screen’ crashes remotely
- you take your laptop to them but they are all at lunch so you leave it on one of the desks with a post-it note
- you have a sense of dread about this so you phone the helpline and leave a message explaining about the left laptop with the post-it note
- two hours later you get a call from the tech support supervisor telling you not to leave company laptops unattended
- you explain it’s “blue screen” crashed but apparently that’s not the point
- end of day you get a call telling you your laptop is beyond repair and a new one will allocated tomorrow
- you ask what time and they say by end of day as it has to be “system built” and loaded with all the company apps and security then uploaded with your back up
- you take the next off as paid leave
- the following day you come in early doors and go to collect your new laptop which is shiny and working but it only backed up from 48 hours ago as the “blue screen” crash was triggered by back up issue meaning all your work from the previous 24 hours before that hasn’t been saved
- you boss calls again, there is sighing
etc etc
@diver saidI gave you a positive thumbs for the effort! π
