THERE ARE THREE RED-HOT-PAWN-PROSE COMPETITIONS THAT YOU MAY ENTER
Here are the subjects:
a) THE OPEN TOPIC ROUND
Write about anything you want.
b) THE END OF THE WORLD ROUND
Use your imagination.
c) THE PRETENTIOUS ROUND
Write as pretentiously as you possibly can. Voting for this round will be based on the severity of your pretention. Ideally the winner won't be the one who wrote the best piece, rather the one who wrote the most pretentious. I'm sure I'll get a lot of entries here.
The RULES for writers:
1) 1000 words maximum.
2) Writers will maintain their anonymity or be disqualified.
3) No swearing and stuff, if I can't post it in this forum it won't be entered.
4) I shall decide the closing date for voting, this date will not be extended.
5) Email your prose to redhotpawnprose@gmail.com
If you can email your prose in a .txt or .doc attachment I shall be your love slave in my next life. If not, it's ok, but it is preferred. Also, please include your rhp user name because my clairvoyant powers are limited only to bra sizes.
6) After the prose is posted I don't take responsibility if you change your mind or your spelling is bad.
7) Give your piece a title (preferably not too long)
8) At the end of the round I'll announce the author's names of the three pieces that scored the most points.
9) Under normal circumstances I'll post the entries when I have received a minimum of 5 pieces. I'll post here every time I get something, and how close I am to closing the round. If I get more than 5 entries I'll still post them all.
The rules for voting:
Select three pieces of prose from the lot that are published, rank them according to your amazing insight and considerable knowledge of literature.
Rank 1 will get 5 points
Rank 2 will get 3 points
Rank 3 will get 2 points
Please don't discuss the prose until after the voting is closed.
The rules for voting for the writers of the competition will be discussed with them privately.
I do not profit from hosting this competition, I do this for a love of literature and I'd like to encourage more people to write. Even if you haven't written anything creatively since high school there is still a great chance that you have some untapped talent... at the very least it's great to have feedback about your writing anonymously.
Some people would argue that the general forum is too chaotic to try and increase the 'intellectuality' with such a competition. These people are fools and they're generally content to hide behind their online identity and criticize the writings of others without ever displaying their own work. I believe they have no testiculari.
Originally posted by hopscotchSorry about asking a possibly stupid question, but does "closing the round" mean "not accepting any more entries and opening the round for voting"? So basically you accept five entries, and only if more entries come in before you got around to post those five entries you'll accept more, right? Why the limit? I would be much more likely to send in something if there were a deadline instead of a limit on the number of entries. I am not very motivated to write something if I have no idea how much time I'll have to get my entry in - it would be annoying if the round would close/open just before I had finished, and all my efforts were wasted. But maybe that's just me.
9) Under normal circumstances I'll post the entries when I have received a minimum of 5 pieces. I'll post here every time I get something, and how close I am to closing the round. If I get more than 5 entries I'll still post them all.
Originally posted by hopscotchWhy is the max 1000? For me, I like to flesh out my stories with details and crap like that. It'll be extremely difficult to keep it under 1000...
