What version of Android does the Hero run ? I've gone for 1.6 minimum (my motive being that 1.5 had some wierd AppWidget bugs that I'd have to work around.

1.5. The HTC Hero is quite far behind.

I notice that there's a 2.1 update being released by HTC, hopefully your telco provider will accommodate.
