Last night watching the Flyer and Rangers on Versus, I was amazed at how many names these guys mess up. I know they aren't hometown announcers, but they should know the names to be national.
I had to put it on mute in the second period, he kept calling Daniel Briere "Danielle" Briere. And screwed up about 5 others.
Any other stories or thoughts on this?
Oh man, it's bad! Some announcers are terrible. They get their facts wrong and the announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs is the worst. Often he doesn't even know what has just happened. He even names the wrong players. not just pronouncing their names wrong, but naming the wrong players!
And the grammar is atrocious. Golf announcers who say, "He hit the ball solid," for example.

I find it quite funny when some of the announcers put ballgame discriptions to hockey !! You know they aren't from Canada for sure 😉 !
