I use mozilla firefox, and I put shortcuts to various websites onto the desktop (windows XP).

When I see the url for these sites in the navigation window, they often have a unique icon for the site. However, when I drag this to the desktop to create a shortcut, the icon is replaced with the firefox icon for each of them.

Before switching to firefox I was using IE6, and when using that the shortcut to the website would use the icon furnished by the website.

Is there a setting somewhere in firefox that allows me to use the website icon with the shortcut?

I don't know if it is possible within Firefox, but one option may be to use the "Change Icon" feature in XP.

Right click your shortcut >> Properties >> Web Document tab >> Change Icon, then browse to the icon you wish to use for that shortcut.

For RHP for example, you could try saving one of the gifs dotted around the site (eg the black horse's head that appears just to the left of "New Post" when one is leaving a post), then converting the gif into an icon. The following looks like it might enable you to do the conversion: http://www.gdgsoft.com/download/gconvert.aspx
