I'm just wondering....if you are a funeral director, that's close enough...same goes for undertakers. Just thought I'd ask. 😉
At my mother's funeral I pulled her (my niece) to one side and asked her, "How come mom's lips look like they are glued together?"
So she explained to me that that's what they do... they glue the dead person's lips together so as not to cause any embarrassment at the funeral showing...
Note to those who have lost loved ones: I had to touch my mother while she was lying in the casket. Don't know why, it's just something I had to do for myself... It was actually an amazing experience for me because as soon as I touched her body I knew she wasn't there.
Might sound a little crazy to some of you, but for those who have lost a loved one I suggest you touch their body at the funeral home. You will suddenly know that it's just an empty shell and it will help you to move on.

I guess I needed a slap in the face like that - about my own mother's death, to realize that this site doesn't deserve my time in the forums.
I leave all of you to your own darkness...
Originally posted by arrakisNo disrespect to your mother, but i would have preferred to remain in the darkness about the details. i too have not long lost a family member and would have thought there is a time and place to share that type of information, not in a chess forum.

I went to my grandmother's funeral recently and noticed the same thing. I put it out of my mind though, because it was disturbing enough to see her lying in the casket. I tried real hard not to think about the way she looked, cause it didn't look like her at all and I don't want to remember her like that.
