I've been told that GO has far more variations than chess and that no computer has yet beaten a GO champion. Don't know how true this is but it seems an intriguing game.
The rules are very simple. The complexity comes from the fastness of fields (points): 361.
This explains also why no computer can handle it. Remember the grain story with the chessboard. The outcome of doubling the 64 chess fields produced a number that was bigger than there were granules in the world. Doubling the points on a Go board would produce a galactic outcome and equals the number of possible positions on a Go board
If you start with it I can advise you to begin with a smaller board: 13 x 13 or 9 x 9 points. You can buy very cheap paper ones in good game shops.
There is a lot to find on internet. Just google a bit. The words Go, rules, board, game will give you a million of links. 🙄

Year or so ago, by surfing on the net I stumbled on a site with rules of this wonderful old game, though I still prefer chess, I sometimes play GO on this server: http://kgs.kiseido.com/ (people here are friendly and most of them are willing to teach beginners basics of the game)
I have found an interesting site for beginners with an interactive way of familiarizeing with the rules of this game: http://playgo.to/interactive/index.html
also on this site you have a brief history and introduction to the game:http://www.well.com/www/mmcadams/gointro.html
I'm sure that you can find many more sites using google.
Hope this helps
