We just got a call from a salesman trying to sell us keywords specific to businesses. They are not cheap, like 500 bucks and up, like way up in some cases. So trying to sniff it out and see if it is just another scam or if it would be worthwhile investing for our home business. Thanks for your replies.

What search ranking does $500 get you, and how long for? Also, how unique are the keywords and phrases?

I think it's a bit of a scam - online marketing company milking money from small business on the promise of search results? You'd probably be better off using Google Adsense to promote your business.
