Do you know that guy who wears the John Deere hat and a red flannel shirt? He owes me 10 bucks.

Valuable $10 lesson in human nature learned: Neither a borrower nor a lender be. And, for the sake of a lousy ten bucks, why in the world

seek recovery or register a public complaint as the juice of an internet forum thread? Most men would simply regard it as a charitable gift.

If it's heights in general then I believe it's called acrophobia. If it's specific to bridges then we'll likely need Nordlys' input.

Bridges and heights but two separate fears.

When on bridges I am afraid they will collapse or I will fall through the slats and dividers (same thing with fire escapes).

Heights inspire fear of falling, knocked off by wind or other people falling.

EDIT: When I was a kid I used to worry our car would careen out of control and drive off bridges and cliffs.

Do you drive? And look for routes that avoid bridges? Or is it not that bad?

Ever tried rock climbing?

zeugmatophobia

Edit: Okay, I made that up (it does make sense, because "zeugma" does mean "bridge" among other things). Apparently it's officially called gephyrophobia. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=12355
