...any good films lately? Any recommendations?

I gather Matrix Reloaded came out in the US the other day - gotta wait a little longer for it in the UK.

Bought Out of Africa on DVD for a mere pittance. Looking forward to watching it.

So anyone seen anything good recently?

Most films nowadays are pretty crappy half-bred affairs where the plot is so obvious, you basicall know what's coming next.

I saw 'Confessions of a dangerous mind' the other day - pretty good.
Any of you seen 'Memento'. Came out about a year ago. Best movie I saw in a long time.

if you buy the DVD, one of the comentaries is by a delta, and he tells you what happened in the war and explains the changes. x-men2 is great for people who like x-men, its still pretty good for those who dont. (gean gray does her dragon ball z and starwars impression near the end)

You have to see the normal TV show: Da Ali G Show - it's pretty funny - but you're right, the movie was crap.

I wan't to see bulletproof monk as I love the cheesy Martial Arts films, especially the ones where the people can jump 15 feet in the air and fight on tree limbs. Actually, anything that has to do with Martial Arts is good! πŸ˜€

Two of the "thin man" series were shown on tv this past weekend. Anyone else delighted by the interplay between the Myrna Loy and William Powell characters.

that's probably pretty true, but only to an extent. What is probably more true is that there always have been a lot of garbage films, but only the good ones are still watched 20 years later so people come away with the impression that all films used to be of better quality. I mean, have you seen those 60's & 70's horror flicks?!!

Of course it is also true that people will so any old garbage these days (because they have more money so seeing a picture isn't such a special event?) so the film industry can make some money on low budget (or even high budget) tosh.

Current recomendations:

white oleander (sad film)
rabbit proof fence (sad film)

be warned - only watch in the company of people who you won't mind when they notice you're quietly crying.

We found a good one the other day. Probably only available on tape. It's called "Children Of Heaven" and is a wonderful movie. It is mostly about a brother and sister, Ali and Zahra, and their sharing 1 pair of shoes to go to school... It won an acadamy award and will leave you happy to be a member of the human race.
