Well-known artist Marcel Duchamp, 1887-1968, who painted the famous painting, Nude Descending a Staircase, took up chess after WWI. He was so taken by the game that he essentially gave up his art even thouigh he was a founding father of the Dada movement. After he married, he spent the entire first week of his marriage studying chess. His bride therefore glued the chess pieces to the chessboard out of frustration. They divorced three months later.
Does that sound familiar to anyone?
