Oh well. First day ended with with Australia 364/2 with Matthew Hayden
unbeaten on 186. Ricky Ponting also made a century.
I read the words "missed catches by England" (Hayden was dropped
three times) and "superb batting at 4.04 an over by Australia"
and "England fast bowler out for 6 months". I get the feeling that
those words will be printed again more than once during the series.
Hussain put the Aussies in to bat under fairly cloudy skies. They soon
dispersed (the clouds that is, not the Aussies) and out came the
sunshine making it good batting conditions and yadda yadda yadda
you know the rest.
Australia are head and shoulders above the rest of the world at the
moment, and have been for some time. It will take a better team
than England to scare them (although perhaps at one of the grounds
where it swings more...Brisbane perhaps?....England may have more
of a chance).
