Great goal. I feel sorry for Japan as they played a good game, but with two great goals for Australia, I can't say the Aussies didn't deserve to win it.

The game lasted 10 minutes too long for the Japanese. Perhaps they were too tired? And I must say their keeper made a nice blunder which led to Australia's first goal.

I think, perhaps, that FIFA maybe slightly to blame for the refereeing inconsistency we see at world cups. Every time, they move the goal posts, so to speak. Just before the World Cup starts, they come up with new stances that referees must take in certain situations. This tends to throw all of the referees' experience out of the window, and they have new jargon and technicalities to get their heads around.
Granted though, the standard has been pee poor so far.

Yes, the Japanese goal was a bit iffy.
Yes, the ref needs new glasses.
But...

If Australia can play as well as they did in the last 15 minutes, why the hell do they have to play so dirty for the first 75 minutes?

And it's not just against Japan, they also played really dirty against Holland last week.

Shame on you guys.

c99ux i do agree, we hack. Dont know why, maybe just not as naturally fluent with the ball like the great teams. These guys play in English, German, Dutch and Spanish Leagues where its no place for the faint hearted. We are coached by Europeans and our National teams base is Europe.
You must agree, the Japanese did get away with a bit of rubbish too?
I like what Japans' coach has done for them, they almost play like South Americans.
