Anyone see the Maria Sharapova/Justine Henin-Hardinne match?
One of the best of the year at least! Won by Justine.
Also Mr Muresmo won over Kim Clijsters. So it will be
Mr. Muresmo Vs Justine for the finals on the ladies side.

I watched it - yes, a very good match. Justine really played some excellent defense.

I did think that the 2 wrong line calls in the 3rd said against Sharapova totally changed the outcome.

Yep, there was that. I thought they had cyclops up and running
but I guess not. The way those girls played was phenomenal.
I wonder how they would fare against the guys from say, 60 years
ago. Of course the equipment has changed but the women are
SO much tougher now. Did you ever see Women like Billy Jean
King hit so hard? Granted she was a relatively hard hitter for her
day but man, now, its like these gals are from another planet!

After watching the ladies final last night, I've canceled my membership in the J. Henin-Hardenne fan club.

I overlooked the incident with Serena Williams at the French because I didn't want to believe anyone could be such a poor sport. But her resignation in a Slam final (during which she was supposedly in the best shape of her career!?!?!) for no obvious reason is heresey.
Up all night with upset stomach caused by anti-inflammatories...yeah right.
More likely she was up all night in fear of Mauresmo whopping on her the next day as she did!

From this day forward I refuse to watch another Henin match.

I agree. A very low-class move by Justine. At that level you can't just claim a tummy-ache and quit once you realize you are going to get whomped in front of a global audience.

Aren't most of them spoiled snobs?

The real story is on the men's side with this unseeded guy from Cypress! Go whatever-your-name-is!

Indeed!
A great run by a relatively obsure player. Full of spirit and energy, quite like Nadal.
It's exciting to see new talent cropping up, threatening the "King"!

Justine will probably do a drop out now, I used to be a fan of hers
but now....
That guy Baghdadis, even though Federer won, he lost a set to
this new guy. He has burst onto the scene and is now in the top 30.
Undoubtedly get better and give Federer a much better match in
a couple of years. Great spirit and charisma. Nice girlfriend too.

Absolutely! How could she let an upset stomach or whatever stop her from AT LEAST trying to win??! A Grand Slam Final!! She felt a bit tired.. gawwwd. If I was getting paid millions of dollars like those tennis players do, I'd at least try to finish the match and give the people who came to watch value for money. People are paying money to come watch her play... so at least gut it out!

I remember an NBA Finals match where Michael Jordan came out after being up all night with an upset stomach or flu like symptoms and was so weak he could barely play... and he played through and won the game for the Bulls and scored 39 points and carried the team on his back! ..and I'm sure basketball is more demanding than tennis..

So come on Justine, you have to be tougher than that and you certainly haven't won anyone's heart with a non-display of guts and determination! It's going to take alot for people to forget about this episode!
