Baseball questions...

My housemate has become a bit of a baseball enthusiast over the last few years. This being due to late night coverage of it on English television. He seems to have a pretty good grasp of the rules, but he is still confused by the 'In field fly ball' and 'Fly tip' rules. Could someone clarify these for him if possible.
He would also like to know why Derek Jeter gets paid so much more in wages than nomar garciaparra. 😕
