25 years ago I bought the ultimate set of BBQ tongs, and the missus has lost them.
These were no ordinary tongs; they were the classic flat based lower arm with the required top arm gripper. Neatly inlaid with wood to dissipate heat and the perfect length to balance heat-to-hand avoidance with precise flame-food management.
25 years of effective garden food grilling is now lost due to excessive and poorly documented tidy-uppery.

@diver saidThese things should always be left, for safe keeping, in one of your man sheds.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidAs well as your wife... π

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidI have searched the shed thoroughly. No grill tongs here. I can offer three different rose shears, however.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidWell, then you have 3/5 of a flush. But, being identical, they must have come from three separate decks. Definitely not in Hoyle !
I have three spades, all identical.
No idea why.
As domestic tensions continue to escalate the husband has confirmed that the historic tongs have still not been located.
Elsewhere the wife used an alternative set of modern, albeit less functional and less heritage-oriented tongs to cook steak today and with some success … so it has been claimed.
