Bedtime Story

Many have been totaly trusting
but few have suffered this much,
blindsided at such an early age,
at the hands of a criminal few.

The body ambulance responded.
Unheard groans of the exquisite
numbing continued. Anthesia,
itself, infused the unfelt pain.

Unlike Pain One prowling along
wide corridors zero to fainting,
Pain Two is beyond threshholds
and without any remedy or relief.

Knew two such victims long ago,
both elegant ladies forever young,
on the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts.
O, my God, how I still miss them.

Agree, Tim. Picture books and fairy tales are generally considered more nearly

appropriate for the little ones (as well as far less demanding of the parents).

Word "appropriate" is an absolute quality, condition and statement of kind. "More appropriate" is incorrect usage since it assumes the quality can be improved upon. In contrast, "more nearly appropriate" respects the fact that attainment varies only in degree. You may discover an increase in the readership of your posts if you used your own thoughts/words, not those of your friend Ben.

Let me hasten to concede that posting "Bedtime Story" may well have been both inappropriate and in poor taste. Short poem was made, earlier this year during my paraylsis recovery, in tribute to my dear wife who departed this life in 2003 and a close friend I met a few years later (photo in my profile). These two unique and significant ladies, who mattered greatly in my life, never met but will meet in eternity. They share an unfortunate experience from childhood, the details of which shall remain unstated.

In my opinion it would be more nearly appropriate, if CFT would pipe down and show some respect.

But we all know that ain't a happenin'

Nice poem Bob 🙂

One sentence poems (guilty of plagiarism, though uncharged and still walking the streets and alleys of cyberville scot free) are okay for the unwashed rank and file. From you, Tim, we've all come to expect more... so how about getting your nerve up and placing one of your own recent vintage poetic attempts on the Red Hot Pawn General Forum table for the enjoyment of us all.
