@the-gravedigger saidI’ll tell the missus Gravy.
The blue looks good to me.
Maybe do a voice note that effect in our group and I’ll play it to her.
@the-gravedigger saidMe too, I guess it is a matter of taste. It appears to be a dark navy blue to me in the picture that I see.

@divegeester saidIf it's plaster, why not have a talented painter do a fresco on it? Perhaps the colorful face of your twin, FMF, with his corny crown.
I’m thinking of painting the chimney breast in my lounge in a contrast colour. The walls are pale in Dulux Nutmeg White and I’m thinking Oxford Blue for the chimney breast.
Colour suggestions?
@divegeester saidThe “ best colour” is the one you and your wife/partner like. Your choice seems a good one…to me.👍

@divegeester saidBright south facing rooms can handle any colour but it’s said that north facing ones can look too cool with blue.
This is sort of what we have. And I want to paint it Oxford blue.

I’m sorry if this is boring LOL, but I would appreciate some interior decor thoughts.
@divegeester saidI thought it was a nice suggestion. You could kill two birds with one stone. You could sit in front of the fireplace, getting your body cozy and warn, and at the same time you could have warm memories of your longtime twin, since he has departed. You could color his face blue, and it would be blue on blue. I'll bet you can't get over not having a twin around here anymore.

@divegeester saidOkay, this is more what it looks like, right? Is the wood burner real? I mean it does burn wood, right? So I hope your flue extends out the roof somewhere.

Ok, this is not what I was envisioning at first. I guess I thought it was more like a fireplace, with a hearth and all. Eh, no matter.
I think the best solution is to paint it the color your wife wants. Fwiw, I now think the heavy dark blue might be a bit much, perhaps too masculine, as she has said. It also will hide the dirt and dust from the burner, requiring more work when you do clean the space. I would suggest a lighter shade, try to make the wife happy in that regard, perhaps a pastel or light blue at first. See how she likes that, and maybe repaint it, working up to a darker shade that might be a medium compromise between what you want and what she wants, something you can both live with.
@suzianne saidYes it burns real wood and the flue is custom fit and goes out of the existing chimney.

@suzianne saidI don’t think a pastel on pale shade works as a contrast.

But I do agree, in principle, with your suggestion to go with what the wife wants.
