Since smoking and making noise with the tea spoon went to the, hm, junkyard of history... 😉, there is only of question of food for brain cells.

1. Chocolate
I remember watching Joh Nunn during Belgrade tournament in 1991: he would always show up at the table with a chocolate bar, he the would take his glasses off, and he would get deep into the game...

2. Dextrose (in dragées)

3. Coffee Coca Cola (Pepsi)

4. Turkish coffee & Rahat Lokum

5. Sandwich (of course not immediately but later during the course of OTB game)

6. Fruit Yoghurt (various types)

7. Other food...
In some exotic countries, there have been recorded cases of
- eating baked chicken with potatoes, during a otb chess game
- eating barbecued meat
- cakes (with the coffee, by the rule)

Still very evident in my house, and the spoon still rattles all over the country here 😉
1. Cannot disagree and pleasant with any game 🙂
2. Not sure 'dextrose' would be my first choice..the sugar in sugared almonds are much nicer and you can slowly de-laminate the almond whilst pushing a few pawns..
3. Caffeine in a quick 'pick me up' pill is probably outlawed OTB lol but far far better than anything the likes of coca cola or pepsi have ever made !
4. YAK, don;t like the sound of Turkish delight and coffee, hmmmmm, their coffee was a touch too much like treacle for me to enjoy...French coffee will do nicely but not the opening I hasten to add 😉
5. Croissant with a dollop of best butter and lemon curd 'draped' across it...putting the pressure on in the King's Indian that's going all my own way..you know, when White just makes all his moves on the queenside and leaves the Kingside free for Black to attack 😀
6. Greek honeyed yoghurt, the best by far and naturally you offer the opposition a spoonful...nothing more mind you, let's not get too generous as we have a game to win !
7. A nice 'celebratory' Tea, nothing fancy just plain breakfast tea..goes down nicely when White resigns the KID game by move 30... enough of a snack for me, all done in an hour 🙂
