Any of you have opinions on which are the best headphones for mp3 players? I've been told that there are specific types of "self-amplifying" headphones that provide better sounds from the mediocre mp3 format. Is there any truth to that?

I can well imagine that you would need headphones with their own power supply for MP3 players to get any sort of decent sound out of one. The power supplies in MP3's are afterall quite puny, and I can't envisage you being able to get any decent bottom end sounds out of normal phones alone.
