Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 16:25
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
The "way that seems right" may offer many options and require few sacrifices. Easy Choices, however, should make us take a second look. Is this solution attractive because it allows me to be lazy? Because it doesn't ask me to change my life-style? Because it requires no moral restraints? The right choice often requires hard work and self-sacrifice. Don't be enticed by apparent shortcuts that seem right but end in death.

The bible proves that there is a God, and He is good!
Archeologists have uncovered a previously lost Dead Sea Scroll. Upon translation, it turns out to be the missing first page of the old testament. It says 'This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance between persons and events depicted within and real persons and events is purely coincidental'.
Do you understand?
I believe the Bible is true.
I believe that God is real.
But I still don't believe that threads like this or Bible studies at RHP achieve anything, except maybe raising the temperature a little and generating a false sense of martyrdom. Discussing our faith in the context of an issue, or current affairs, offering a perspective - fine. Laying out quotations from the Bible and expecting people to fall down on their virtual knees and repent - fantasy.
Sorry, but that's how I feel.

Please consider these verses from the bible that rbhill and myself post......
The bible proves that there is a God, and He is good!
If you HONESTLY think about it, we know alot of these verses are true because we've seen it on T.V. and read in His story books.
Job 26:7 - Empty place in the north.
Jer. 10:12 - Einstein's theory, E=MC 2(square)

The bible is true because the bible says it's true.
It works the same if we say: god is real because the bible says he's real.
That is what is known as circular reasoning. It is a logical fallacy. You can't use the bible to prove itself, or the existence of god.
Book of Wingett 1:2 - People who go around quoting verses out of the bible are pathetic losers. It's perfectly acceptable to quote from the Book of Wingett, though.
Book of Wingett 1:3 - A lazy fool will rely on faith. A wise man will develop some critical thinking skills.
Book of Wingett 1:4 - The path to wisdom is not through blind faith, but through examined doubt.
I'll tell you what, Albert, if you're going to pray for me, then I'll think for you. How does that sound?

The bible is true whether Albert or rbhill or any other person believes it or not.
NO PERSON creates God by their own thinking. He created US by His thinking, whether you believe it or not.
How many times have you believed in something, then you find out that it wasn't true? Or that we did not believe in something, then we find out, IT WAS TRUE!!! We all have done that many times in our lives, if we are honest enough to admit it. Now the question, is are you honest or did you just forget?
Everybody NEEDS God! The honest will admit it now. Then others will admit it when they realize their own need, and all the other times, it's too late. God loves you and I so much!!! He sent Jesus into this world full of sinners, to die for OUR SINS. Even though alot of people don't believe in Him, even though alot of people don't care, even though alot of people hate Him, HE STILL LOVES US AND ALREADY HAS DIED FOR OUR SINS!!!
For God so, so, so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever BELIEVES in Him(Jesus) should not perish but HAVE everlastinglife. John 3:16

Albert

Do you realize that your posts are turning more people from god than bring to him? Posts like yours are one reason people want to restrict posting to established members.

RBHILL is a paying member and has a right (i suppose) to post whatever he wants. i agree with phlabby in respect to that most of these posts (if not all) are designed to stir up people. i always find myself coming to these threads all ready knowing what the content will be although allegations that i am gay was a suprise! i think i read these posts because they are some of the most active threads on RHP. even though i look at these as a device to stir up trouble, i find myself annoyed and sometimes angry at what i read so i respond (sometimes blind and irrationally) to apease my irritation.

anyways i started to ramble on so i will get back to my original point.
albert not being a subscriber would only eliminate the problem for a short time. eventually (and i whole heartedly hope he does) he might subscribe and post anyways.
bottom line, this is a chess site and it needs subscribers. not allowing the non payers to post could possibly make them feel unwanted and they would either subscribe or leave. if this was the case when i first joined...i would have left. lets not ruin Russ and Chrismo's program.
