B-Freak, I'm curious...what was the stature/experience level of the
woman(en) who('ve) beat(en) you in the ring? And Janey, have you
taken down any big men?

I had an ongoing argument w/ a black belted vixen I used to work
with. She was about 5'0'' and average build and she insisted she
could take me down in a sparring match. I'm 6'3" 215lbs and very
athletic. I'm a former wrestling league champ and have also dabbled
in Karate and Tae kwon do. I couldn't imagine this woman could beat
me. I backed down from every challenge and was (understandably)
ridiculed for it. Although I almost went for it once when she started
getting on my nerves!🙂...

Was I wrong...should I have taken this challenge? And...could she
possibly have beaten me? Even as I ask this question I don't think
anyone can convice me of it. But I am curious about the opinions out
there.

btw...none of the guys thought she could beat me but about 1/3 of
the woman seemed to feel she had a shot. (generally the younger
women in the group)

the women who've beaten me have usually been black belt, but I did
once get trounced by a purple. They haven't been big girls, but speed
and skill counts for a lot in semi-contact & size only really gives you a
reach (& intimidation?) advantage.

whether she could have beaten you or not really depends on how good
she was and what rules you were fighting to. Most girls of that size
wouldn't be able to take down a large man who had fighting
experience in full contact, especially if you wrestled her down - she'd
have to take you down in the first few seconds before you could grab
hold of her. Although I've seen a 5'3 blond take down a huge bloke in
the street. I learnt later that she was on the national karate squad.

as for the split between the girls and the boys as to who they thought
would win, girls like to think it's possible because they want to be
equal in all areas and fighting is one area they have a big
disadvantage. Blokes don't want to believe it for the same reason,
because it's one of the few area that they still do have an advantage.

Could she have beaten you...? You never know who'll win until you get
in the ring and find out.

Janey - I hope nothing here came accross as sexist, it isn't meant to
be. Tell me off if it did.

Freak - who promises this is the last post of the day
