I heard a pretty good (recently done) cover of Public Enemy's, "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" this afternoon on BBC radio. At least I think it might have been good. I only heard part of it. Does anyone know what the name of the band might be? I tried finding it on google, but didn't have much luck.

Nice link πŸ™‚

Varg, Bosse is using the story of Elric in a sort of word association game format. He's too clever for his own good πŸ˜›

I think I'm right in saying Rage Against the Machine did a cover, could it have been them?

tricky did a cover of it years ago, off the album 'maxinquaye'. it was simply called 'black steel', and featured martine topley-bird on vocals. any help?

edit: you say it was a recently done version - the tricky one is about 10 years old now...

Most of the BBC shows have a link to the show playlist for every day. Maybe you should check that. Try the show first if you know it, or else search playlists on the BBC site.

no reason to cover a great song such as the pe version. what's the point?

The Tricky version is great. I don't think that was what I heard on the radio though, unless it was a remake or something. Tough tune to cover. I can see how RATM could do a decent job with it, but very few other bands could pull it off.

there was only one public enemy. i stand by that version. "it takes a nation of millions to hold us back" is one of the top 5 hip hop albums ever.
