is there anyone else out there who is into blue food? i use blue food colouring in just about everything i cook - curries, risotto, whatever. pale sky blue rice, darker blue mushrooms, shrimp, whatever...mmmm

i gave a blue dinner party the other day. everyone wore blue, we ate blue food off blue plates and bowls, and of course Coltrane's Blue Train was playing on the stereo, followed by some blues. people looked a little apprehensive when confronted with the delicate blue chicken broth i had prepared to start the meal with, but after trying it everyone said it was delicious.

No toxicity studies exist for acute exposure to blue food coloring, but, there have been case were excessive consumption leads to a cyanotic appearance of the skin... you turn blue. Stay away from purple as it turns your pee green as well.

my skin does have a bit of a blue tinge - i kind of like it - it's not really distinctly blue, but kind of hints at blue. i think it makes me look exotic in a way different from the run-of-the-mill hair colouring, tatts, piercings etc. luckily i always wear black, and the blue goes well with that. it's more noticable by moonlight. as for green pee, asparagus does the trick as well, and i don't mind - the green goes well with my blue...

On Christmas, and Thanksgiving when I make a big feast, I serve blue milk in honor of Star wars.

I am partial to blue Gatorade, but an RHP member tells me it clashes with fish.

I usually serve coca cola....if you're really drunk the bubbles in the darkness look like stars in a galaxy far, far away.

I do like the blue milk idea though.

Doesn't half the population of Scotland have skin with a slightly blue tinge?

I thought that was because they went outside in winter without coats or jackets. Being able to withstand the cold, wet conditions is an essential part of being a Scotsman. For women, of course, it's traditional all over the UK to go out on a winter's night wearing very little.
