I'm not good enough at chess to be able to digest proper chess tactics books (not eating jokes please), and i know nothing about famous games. This book has been a bit hard to read at the beginning, because it just floods you with information, but it's starting to pick up pace now that the scene is set.
Maybe if i can read the actual "game" part of the book, i can start to understand future tactic books a bit better. i only have Game six at home, and i've got the link to game 13 here, i think.

...there is no better book than reinfeld teaches chess...it is really good
for keeping the door open and i have thrown it at the neighbor dog a
time or two...he has learned something about the pin from this book..

I'm up to game 6, when Fischer plays the English.

This book is definitely worth the €6 payed for it 🙂

Well, i've finished the book.

What a strange state of affairs the whole Reykjavik thing was.

I've read perhaps a dozen chess history books over the past year, including others on the Fischer-Spassky match. Until I saw this thread, I'd forgotten that I had read this one. (I'm not certain what that says.)

Seems like the Toilet fiasco shows that the whole WCC is a bit mad.

I did feel sorry for poor old Boris though, by rights he should've just walked away with the title. . .no questions asked.

I was a kid when all it all took place but it got us all playing chess and raised lots of awareness and excitment for the game.

I enjoyed this thread a lot (not that I'm going to read a book.. ugh) but I checked for more of the story and found the result of the rematch twenty years later http://www.mark-weeks.com/chess/92fs$mix.htm Fischer won again (perhaps wearing a star trek suit and Spock ears.)

Cheers..
