@ponderable saidThanks,
I liked this movie very much as a Young child:

I watched the first 5 minutes back in the days of black and white and when they wrote the words down. A Classic to be sure. I see it goes for an hour and 18 minutes. So will watch it later.

I remember first seeing Buster in "The General".
It was a real Junior High School event, circa 1976. I believe it was a part of the myriad Bicentennial Celebrations of that year. (Also the film's 50th Anniversary)
It was one of those "gala extravaganzas" that we tweenies willingly endured because it got us out of classes.
But for me, it became a transformative milestone. I actually enjoyed the hell out of it!
The older gentleman on the piano played period-appropriate music. And one could feel the 1920's.
It was my first experience with a silent film. I've been a fan ever since.
Older movies are the next best thing to time-travel: But silent films are actual time-travel. π

In the 70s there was a regular Buster Keaton half-hour on TV.
Saturday or Sunday evenings hosted by ... was it Michael Bentine?
edit: Maybe Bob Monkhouse?
Trivia: Buster Keaton appeared in a 1960s Twilight zone episode.
@hells-caretaker saidI've just done the wiki research on both Monkhouse and Bentine
Off the cuff (no google), Bob π¬
and cannot find any reference to the series I'm thinking of. Monkhouse
was of course a huge silent movie fan so maybe you are right.
I did discover that Monkhouse appeared in the Thunderbirds movie!
I did discover that Bentine did an investigation for Special Branch. (UK Police)
Both men died of prostate cancer.

They must have used some sophisticated software to clean up the video, it is really clean! I wonder if they could use lip readers to insert appropriate audio to make it a talkie? That would be a blast!
@sonhouse saidYou are Right it has a remarkable Quality. I remember seeing worse wear as a child. So hail the digital remastering!

I think you can't really make a talkie out of it. Lip readig only brings you so far.
