I'm looking for a new monitor and recently saw the Acer AL2623W which I rather liked. I'm looking for something which will display colour and depth quite well as I do use my home PC for design.
Got a quote from one of the suppliers my company deals with, and these are what they can supply:

HP LP2465 24" LCD MONITOR @ R6,784.00
ACER AL2623W 26" WIDESCREEN LCD (5MS) @ R4,370.00
LG L245WP 24" WIDESCREEN LCD (8MS) @ R6,667.00

Looking at the refresh rate on the Acer, I'm not so sure I'm really keen on it, so of these I will probably go for the LG 24".
Before I buy though, I was wondering if any of you could offer some feedback if you have one of these monitors or if you can recommend another brand.

Thanks in advance.

Do you really need the wide screen?

I recently bought 2 LG FLATRON 19" 1280x1024 2000:1 5ms for 4500. Works a charm.

I prefer them, floating windows in most of the adobe products annoy the chr_st out of me. With the wide screen my work space seems a lot more uncluttered.
Its that or I do the duel monitor thing, honestly I'm not keen on that at all.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I use dual monitors at work... ...er, that is I would if I could ever manage to get back home to the states. It's not a bad setup for that, but for home usage I think something like this might be superior. 😛

24" benq FP241W is what you need. 1600x1200, excellent black, great colors and pretty fast. the best monitor I've seen so far.

the only con is that some of these sometimes black out for 1-2 seconds. including mine. maybe once or twice a week. I don't know how widespread it is, but I have heard others having it too. maybe it's fixed by now though, as mine is about a year old.

but it's really not that big a deal in practice, and otherwise the monitor is just so damn good.

here's a thread about it on hard forum, with loads of reviews and user experiences:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1066372

I remember reading that when I was buying mine, and it's still going strong on the first page. and it's started 2006!

yeah, there's no going back to 4:3 once you've done graphics on WS. there's just so much more space.

If you've got an LCD tv just use that...way better looking at a nice big screen than a small computer screen. Plus, why buy another screen when you don't have to?

Mine is hooked up to my 40 Inch lcd tv.

doesn't work for graphics, the colors & black levels just are not there yet...
