An experimental forum game of sorts. I'll give the first number and state the best player I can think of with that number (No Googling!). And then the next person gives another player they admire with that same number than gives another number for the next poster.

11

Mark Messier - One of the nastiest players in the history of the NHL but also one of its greatest leaders. 6 time Stanley Cup champion including bringing the New York Rangers their first Cup in over 50 years. 2-time MVP. 15-time All-Star and 2nd on the all-time scoring list.

The amount of interest this game has generated and, subsequently, what I must look like putting forth such a stupid idea.

No it's a good initiative...I'm just trying to come up with a better player than Drew Bledsoe.

If Russ now closes the Sports Forum we'll know who to blame 🙁

Never got to see Robinson play but watching him flip out as coach of the Expos was always great. He's got some great sound bytes. I also enjoyed it when he went toe-to-toe with Mike Scoscia a couple years back and almost dropped him on his keyster.

4 - Brett Favre

I was hoping for Gehrig.

Earl Monroe for the Knicks.

While on the topic of Frank Robinson: Red, did you see him cry this year in the post-game interview when he was forced to pull his third-string catcher during the inning after he gave up something like 8 stolen bases? That was totally beautiful.

No, I didn't see that. Where was this? (That they had 8 stolen bases?)

Frank was a great player though. The only player to win the MVP award in both leagues. He's a triple crown winner also.

That is interesting. I missed that during the regular season.

it's hard to imagine that Fick has a better arm than LeCroy.
