This place has really died since I left. (Not because of me leaving)

But, I regularly warned Russ that if he did not clean up the forums and the chess that eventually the place would whither and die.

I think there are many factors at work. Some here develop real life complications and situations that limit time and energy for online activities. priorities change. Health goes to hell etc etc

Indeed the place is far from dead. Even the Forums are alive, although some barely so. But as was written time and again, the majority of players never post in the Forums.
