Looking to upgrade the Sony which is digital but not SLR. Leaning towards a Canon 50D with the 18-200 kit and 580 EXII flash head. Any advice would be appreciated - someone who has a Nikon D90 with the same glass as that would be my second choice.

You can use it to take pictures of your chess games and
see how your openings develop.

or

Take pictures of your chess games but focus on your endings.

or

Get ready to take a picture of two guys playing chess.
When one of them castles Queenside you can z o-o-o-m in!

or

Whack me around the earhole with your camera for being a wise arse.

Regarding photography, or the apostrophe in the thread title?

Look at some of these reviews http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/ I think Nikons may be less expensive than Canons but there are so many cameras out there you are spoilt for choice.

Sorry 'bout that chief, but was unable to edit the title after I'd sent the post off.

PS bought the 50D in the end - metal body and more user friendly. JW, the Nikons' (😏) manual alone would shame a decent dictionary.

Russ changed that - you can click edit after your first post and edit the title too.
