Non-Sub Rec'd just for the memories of Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis. 🙂

Last week, I was talking about something that blowed up nice, real nice. I bet you know that reference too.
Was that post cleared for release by Edith Prickly ?

Another good one! I'm pretty sure that was Andrea Martin. Right?

The first SCTV skit I ever saw had John Candy doing a Rocky parody. It was actually pretty funny. Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere now.

I bought the 4 volume DVD set at a local Dollar General ($10 each as opposed to the $60 each Amazon price), and it doesn't have the skit. It is only the hour long shows after NBC bought the show. There is a set on The Early Years, that I haven't purchased, but that skit isn't included.

I think the character was Husky instead of Rocky.

The SCTV guys did a few movies too. Strange Brew has the Moranis/Thomas characters. Another one would be The Last Polka (Candy and Levy characters), but I haven't seen that one.

Yep, Andrea was Edith. I have that same set (also bought at GDS), I couldn't pass that bargin up either. Have you ran the shows with the commentary on? Lots of good background stories about production on there.

I liked the 'remake' of 'On the Waterfront' by Bobby Bitman. His promo of it on 'The Sammy Maudlin Show' was excellent writting.

I haven't used the commentary, but I will next time. I like that older music too. John Candy's fisherman character introduces some nice musical acts. I liked Jimmy Buffet's "Slow Boat To China" for example.

I don't remember the Waterfront sketch that much. I'll have to go back and watch it. Do you remember where it was? I bought all of those in the same day and devoured them one night after another in a row. I remember skipping the soap opera sketches after watching a few (The Heys Of Our Lives), but that was pretty much the only thing I skipped.

My bad, I went back and looked at the set and couldn't find 'On the Waterfront' unless it was inbedded in a Sammy Maudlin skit. I think SCTV had a better set up on their music guests being written into a sketch rather than doing their segment cold.
