Always play Scrabble with my wife over the weekend and as I go to put away the board, the cat is waiting for me on the table to receive a few of her biscuits.
Today it finally occurred to me that this was an established routine entirely of the cat's own creation. She had spotted an opportunity to insert a new treat time into the structure of the weekend.
Today I was outplayed by my wife, and the cat.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidThat's your purpose and obligation.

@neilarini saidI love that article. A great lesson there I feel for taking in cats that might already have an owner.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidOnly if she plays with it first.
Are cats capable of moral or immoral acts based on free will judgments, and is it okay to feed them carrot cake?
@neilarini saidExcellent article. I too once lived in a neighbourhood with a cat more attached to the neighbourhood than to any one family. It would drop by every few days, stay a while, disappear for days, drop by again. We called it "Wild Thing." Never did find out whether any family claimed it as its own.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke
Do you know the difference between cats and dogs?
A dog sees you (1) opening cans of food for them, (2) opening doors to let them in and out, and (3) providing a comfortable place for them to sleep. Therefore, thinks the dog, you must be God.
