Why do people worship celebrities so much? We just finished the Toronto International Film Festival this week. "Fans" were lined up outside hotel rooms and screening theatres by the thousands.

What are they doing? Why would you stand around just to look at someone? What is it about these types of "fans" that makes them think to themselves, "hmm, maybe I'll go down to the Four Seasons and stand around for a while behind some velvet rope."

Anyone explain this fascination, or retardation as I call it?
