SO, I get used to everyone and his dog having a cellphone...
I get used to being more vigilant when I drive (or walk) because lots of people reguard driving as a secondary activity when talking on their cell phones...
I get used to being put on hold in the midst of conversatins both professional and private...
I get used to the elaborate and ridiculously long ringtones which for some reason can never be answered in less that 15 notes....
I am no longer surprised by hearing those ringtones on the trail or by the naughty languaged employed by those who cannot convince their cellphones to call out
I get used to being an unwilling party to innane, ridiculous and occasionally interesting and informative conversations which previously would have been classified as "eavesdropping"....
I have become accoustomed to knowing intimate details of other peoples lives such as being unsure which of the four guys she is currently "enjoying" is the father of the child she neither wants or needs or has the ability to provide for (sorry, another rant)...
I got used to having my already sufficent vocabulary of expletive deleteds expanded and embroidered by complete strangers. I no longer have a the vocabulary which could make a sailor blush...I believe I could cause a pirate to become quite uncomfortable....
BUT!!! Today, I had the dubious pleasure of hearing a woman argue (loudly) with her boyfriend over her cell phone which she had on speakerphone!!!! in a public place!!! surrounded by lots of strangers!!!
All hope is lost...

Get a portable recording device. Then save mobile phone conversations you here. Create a website that lists them for public consumption, giving details of where and when you heard each conversation, and what the person conversing looked like.
Or just save them, and then play them back for the person when they have finished talking. Several times. It's legal, given that it's a public space. That'll teach 'em.

I watched a man have a complete nervous breakdown with what I can only assume was a significant other, literally kicking the crap out of himself in an open field near the apartments I use to live in, all while on the cell phone.

Know what you mean! I recently had an experience, at Rutgers University picking up some silicon wafers from on of our scientists at Inplane Photonics who happened to be a visiting professer there and has a semiconductor physics lab, I am walking up to the lab and there are these three guys, all walking together, but all talking to differant people of three cell phones. It looked freaky. I told myself, Welcome to the 21st century......
