lol check the game more closely .
it was a pawn that he took your 'rook' with that ended up being promoted to a 'rook' . The pawn moved diagonal.. not the rook

When you promote a pawn, you can turn it into any piece. Although people often turn their pawns into queens, it is valid to turn your pawn into a rook as well -- or a knight, or bishop. That is the piece you will see on the board.
