Chess Dreams

A post by John about his opponent featuring in one of his dreams got
me thinking about chess and our subconscious. Does anybody dream
of chess? Some peeps play on here a lot (me included) so I wondered
if anyone dreamt of their games or their opponents.

I had one chess related dream when I was very ill the day before my
girlfriend was due to come to my home over Easter for the first time
(we met at university). I was determined not to be unwell the next day
and to make the most of her visit.

I dreamt that I (as white) was playing chess against my illness (as
black). I had pieces swarming all over the black king but just couldn't
find the right combination to mate. Repeatedly black wriggled free. It
felt like the illness was winning and there would be a perpetual
struggle. All this in a dream. Finally though I managed to checkmate
and defeat black and the illness (or so I dreamt).

I woke up the next day feeling absolutely fine and had a wonderful
time.

Anyone else? (or is this just trying to tell me to play less!)

FAscinating dream. Our dreams serve the function of drawing us to
emotional and spiritual health. A Jungian might take the approach of
asking you to be open to black and what it may be trying to teach
you. Your illness (black) is saying, "hey, pay attention to me." Just
some random thoughts. Again, an incredible and teachable dream.

Now, in certain parts of this country a squirrel has other meanings.
You're OK, Mark, you squirrel lover. Kirk

Yes now Mr. Miller asked me which kind I liked; the animal or the
other kind. I was confused and too embarrased to ask what the other
kind was. Someone enlighten this poor naive soul from backward UK.

You've got a girlfriend. That's your first hint. Hopefully the only hint
you'll need. Kirk

ummm, Kirk, aren't you confusing squirrels with beavers??

When I asked T1000 if he meant the animals or the other kind, I was
referring to people who are sort of eccentric in their behavior. (Like
about half the folks here at RHP !) LOL

Marc,
Should I take exception to this post. Which half do I fit in. LOL.
You are right. I have a couple of animal squirrels in the trees in my
back yard. Might as well have one in the house also. Yes, I can make
fun at myself.

No, I'm still trying to sort them out myself. LOL Maybe I'll figure out
which half I belong in too!

In all seriousness, I was really only trying to express more clearly what
my question to T1000 was about when I asked if he meant the
animals or the other kind.

Do they have names? The couple that live in the trees? Like Bob and
Ingrid or something?

Since the dream ends well, I don't know how to interprete it anymore. Otherwise, I would have concluded that it was a normal dream
trying to free you from sexual tensions. Sounds very healthy to me. Sin, the lousy shrink.
