A post by John about his opponent featuring in one of his dreams got
me thinking about chess and our subconscious. Does anybody dream
of chess? Some peeps play on here a lot (me included) so I wondered
if anyone dreamt of their games or their opponents.
I had one chess related dream when I was very ill the day before my
girlfriend was due to come to my home over Easter for the first time
(we met at university). I was determined not to be unwell the next day
and to make the most of her visit.
I dreamt that I (as white) was playing chess against my illness (as
black). I had pieces swarming all over the black king but just couldn't
find the right combination to mate. Repeatedly black wriggled free. It
felt like the illness was winning and there would be a perpetual
struggle. All this in a dream. Finally though I managed to checkmate
and defeat black and the illness (or so I dreamt).
I woke up the next day feeling absolutely fine and had a wonderful
time.
Anyone else? (or is this just trying to tell me to play less!)

FAscinating dream. Our dreams serve the function of drawing us to
emotional and spiritual health. A Jungian might take the approach of
asking you to be open to black and what it may be trying to teach
you. Your illness (black) is saying, "hey, pay attention to me." Just
some random thoughts. Again, an incredible and teachable dream.

Marc,
Should I take exception to this post. Which half do I fit in. LOL.
You are right. I have a couple of animal squirrels in the trees in my
back yard. Might as well have one in the house also. Yes, I can make
fun at myself.
