When an opponent resigns is it expected that I will offer a rematch? Is it a slight not to?

I've never used that feature, I usually PM to offer another game if I feel like it.

I don't think anyone would feel slighted if you don't offer, they have the same button I believe.

I think it is up to you. If he was a polite player, and you enjoyed the game, why not? If he was a jerk, why bother?

It seems to me that the offer of a rematch is more the preogative of the player that lost the game in question. Refusing to play a rematch offer to a player that lost to you is poor sportsmanship. Offering a rematch to a player you just beaten and consider an easy opponent is poorsportsmanship. P.S. It is not a slight to not offer a rematch.

Agree with your reasoning, Gambit3 (though surprised your opponents average

rating (1402) the past twelve months is nearly 400 points below yours (1797).

I tend to never ask for a rematch because my game load is higher than I would prefer- but if I enjoyed the game, I let them know, and I add them to my "buddy list"!

I feel funny about challenging (initial game or rematch) players with lower ratings than me- I don't take ratings very seriously, but many do, so I respect that, and "challenging down" seems funny to me, so I don't do it.

I always accept rematches, and I am especially receptive to rematch challenges from lower-rated players- I really admire people who value the challenge more than the result, and I feel I owe them out of respect for them and for the game.

Of course, if they scalp me enough, our ratings eventually meet, and the "lower rated" part becomes a thing of the past!

First thing I did not challenge any player nor did I delet any accepted or offered game. Second thing my rateing is inflated due to a 1750 or so and a 2000 pluss rated player that stoped playing.

I usually ask for a rematch if I lost the game, unless there's a good reason not to. I rarely ask for a rematch if I've decisively won the game, it feels unsportsmanlike to do so.
I don't consider that the average rating of my opponents has any significance whatever. People come and go from the site, and if you're not very fast with your skull-clicking the wild fluctuations in their rating would mess that up.
