What I said was the point. No problem.
well that's fine, i guess.

it seemed as though your suddenly aroused sympathy for the chickens ('THESE POOR ANIMALS WERE SUFFERING'😉, caused some rather unkind and violent thoughts to surface ('These particular P.E.T.A people are odviously low grade morons and should be flogged!'😉 towards the only humans who were trying to deal with the situation.

Listen, You and I could probobly post until posts became old hat. I do not disagree with every thing that peta is trying to do. I think it's great that they are trying to change industries and take the factory out of factory. I think its great they try to change the world, more power to them. What I don't like is that they manage their immage poorly. It seems that the only time you hear anything about this group is when they are...Example. This next sentence contains no fact mind you its just an example. "Burning down a farmers barn because the farmer wont use silk gloves to milk his cow. Unfortunatly for peta they have a real immage problem, because they attract some real dopes. Unfortunatly this happens to alot of groups. Just look at the republican party. The story that you posted can be looked at many ways, any are valid. I can see why you would think this was a great thing for your group. They responded and did the best that they could. My response was comming from the angle of some one who is only one generation off the farm. I look at the situation technicaly in terms of time and making full use of it, by summing up the situation and what the out come will ultimately be, and reacting. I am not saying that they were wrong. I know they did the best they could. I just would have reacted differently.

in the other thread ('radical liberalism ...' from which you have disappeared after making what i thought was a pretty good post), you wrote:

"Give me some examples...just because I'm "middle ground" doesn't mean I'm closed to changes."

this was such an example, of humans who came to do something to help the helpless. if they hadn't been there, the chickens would have just been left to die slowly until someone brought in a clean up crew - which didn't even show up at sunrise.

these humans did the best they could even though it went completely against their grain. they showed compassion as best they could to creatures who were suffering. they even upheld the law, if you read in the 2nd paragraph, which was about to be broken.

yet you glibly make a joke of their efforts and everything else.

Come on, Prad, don't be so sensitive....it was a JOKE. Sorry if I offended thee. I love animals as much as anyone; I have two dogs that are treated with royalty, I'm an avid bird watcher (both the feather type and the human), I love reptiles...speaking of reptile, why don't the PETA pukes protest the rattlesnake roundups held all over the US in the spring, destroying 100,000s of beneficial snakes? If the PETA people would protest against the slaughter of snakes, then they may get my attention. But, if they keep reacting to spilled chickens like it's the end of the world, then they will continue to be looked at as kooks...Cheers

i'll remember you said that 😉

part of the problem is that there is so much said about them that does contain no fact, because some people don't like the fact that peta does put a damper on their activities.

Unfortunatly for peta they have a real immage problem, because they attract some real dopes.
can you name a single one? actually, peta comes clean financially and in action. they have a rather powerful image which is why so many celebrities and donors support them and the organization has grown into 3 continents. it would not seem to me, that they have an image problem - but they are fairly notorious (and sometimes wonderfully so).

I can see why you would think this was a great thing for your group. They responded and did the best that they could.
they aren't my group, btw. though i feel glad to be able to say what i can about them. btw, regarding image, did you know that ingrid newkirk was in a very favorable article as america's most radical woman - in the new yorker of all places.

I am not saying that they were wrong. I know they did the best they could. I just would have reacted differently.
that's good to know and may be you will 😉

the article was written by someone doing the very dirty work. i think she felt very strongly about it and was personally hurt by what she witnessed. i rather think she was anything but a kook.

so, you want to do something for the rattlesnakes? shall i give you peta's phone number, or would you like to wait till i find out a bit more about it?

(btw, i wish you would get back to the other thread - i put several examples up there for you and i am keen to hear your comments about them - it's on p2 now because you waited so long).
