The Von Erich claw!
For those of you who didn't grow up in or around Dallas in the mid-sixties through the late 1980s, Fritz Von Erich was almost as well known as Tom Landry. He was a rassler who performed at the world famous Sportatorium (a raggedy arena in a bad part of town) that finally had to be torn down in the 1990s. Every Saturday night when I was growing up, my dad and I tuned in to watch World Class Championship Wrestling (which Von Erich owned and broadcast throughout Texas and the South) on Channel 11 to see him in a Texas Death Match, Steel Cage Match or Loser Leaves Town Match and apply the Iron Claw (his great finishin' move) to the Great Kabuki, Skandar Akbar, Killer Tim Brooks, Bruiser Brody, Black Jack Mulligan and a whole rogue's gallery of rasslin' villains. Fritz had several sons and nephews who rassled under the Von Erich name and I got to see them all come up through the ranks on WCCW. But all good things must come to an end and the saga of the Von Erichs ended tragically, with the demise of the most of the clan (except Fritz) through drinking, suicide or misadventure. They should have been born Kennedys.

I repeatedly tortured my young sister with the Iron Claw. I still remember the feel of her temples softening in my steel grip.

I think every older brother in Texas probably attempted the Iron Claw on their younger siblings during that era.
