This is horrific, if true.

The link contains some disturbing pictures, so if you are very sensitive I suggest you don't read it.

Is this a hoax??

I am pretty sure the ST's pic is from the same series as the other series of pics. They were from an artist doing an exhibition of eating people.

If you check the sources on the Snopes article, it seems that suckers all around the developed world have been falling for this story since the 1990s.

I'm surprised at you for spreading this ancient xenophobic rubbish, Mike. 😠

but that snopes refers to a DIFFERENT story. 😉

Hey, it isn't me spreading it - it's all over the internet..... I just asked if it's a hoax or not... 😉

Yeah, back when the good dean Swift published his Modest Proposal, there were also stupid, racist Englishmen who took him seriously. Nothing much has changed in the centuries since.

There was a program on TV this week in the UK showing a open air Chinese food market with everything from cooked rats to grilled scorpions on a stick. One guy was filmed eating chicken fetus straight out of the egg shell.

Same old same old racism: Balut is actually a famous Philippine speciality, also eaten in other countries in the region like, shock, horror, Thailand (and, yes, also in China), but you won't see any of these Yellow-Peril-wailers ever mention that.

What I found interesting is that the same foreigners' fears have surfaced in Korea, even if it is only in Letters to the Editor and not a reporter's text. Our tribal ancestors may have invented xenophobia but it's taking a loooooooong time to become extinct all round the world.

What is any different between eating a chicken foetus and grown chicken. It's all the same stuff at the end of the day. THe only difference is our perception of it and what we have been desensitized to. If you had never eaten meat in your life then were offered it now, I'm sure you would be disgusted at the thought of eating it.

I wasn't calling anyone English, I was noting parallels between today's world and English "polite" society in Swift's time.

By the way, Pommie mate, if the word "English" insults you so much, you might want to punch the guy in the face who set your forum avatar.
