I was thinking of buying this game but I guess you have to download something called "Stream". Also heard that it crashes.

Anybody out there tried this game yet?

I've owned all of the other versions, or at least one of each sequence. How many hours playing? 10,000?

I thought this was about the fifth incarnation of User 332148.

What would make CIV 5 more interesting than CIV 40 or CIV 90?

I don't know. I was hoping badmoon would answer that.

I was looking forward to this game until I found out you need to access it through Steam.

Civ 5 has gotten some really good reviews, but I think I'm going to stick with my copy of Civ 4 instead. Perhaps you should pick up a copy of Civ 4 (CHEAP!) and avoid the insidious beast known as Steam. Civ 4 is a pretty good game if you're into this genre -- probably not as good as 5, but still good enough.

If you decide to get Civ 5, post a review here. I'd love to get an unbiased (?) point of view...

Hi - I have Civ 5. Yes it installs steam and many people seem to have problems with the installaion an running of the game but I have not. I don't have a particularly powerful pc -dual core, 3.16mhz, 4gb ram, Vista 32bit - and it runs fine. The problem is that as an avid Civ fan for the last 15 years, Civ 5 is definately 'dumbed down' - a lot of the complexity that made Civ the great game it is has been removed. Of course, this would appeal to some people but to die-hard Civ fanatics, while Civ 5 is fun, it's certainly lost its 'one more turn' appeal...

Doesn't sound promising.

My favorite is Civ 1, but it crashed at the end of games, and Civ3. Civ 4 has the graphics.

Thanks
