My closest brush with footballing fame was playing against Tony Sanneh back as a school boy...he played for the US national team and also in Germany a bit (Hertha Berlin & Nuremberg). I never ever bettered him on the field though.
I saw Cafu' in the Sao Paulo airport once over the Chrismas holidays. He signed my knock off Brazil jersey. Shame that I didn't have a camera!
Edit: I also brushed by the actor Bill Murray at a bar in St. Paul, MN. He used to be owner of a small local baseball team there. I realized it right as I was trying to get by him and didn't really feal like saying anything to him as we were chest to chest.
