For those who don't know, but wanna clean up and speed up:

Run disk clean up.
Start > All Programes > Accessories > System Tools Disk Clean up.
Select C Drive > Press OK
When the box pops up make sure you tick all the boxes, and press ok. Press yes to confirm.
Wait for it to finish.

Empty Prefetch File
Once finished, Click Start > Control Panel > Folder Options.
When the box pops up click on the View Tab.
Select Show Hidden Files and Folders
Untick Hide extensions for known file types
Untick Hide Protected operating system files (Recommended), press yes when the warning box pops up.
Press ok
Close the control panel.

Click Start > My Computer > C Drive > Windows > Open the Prefetch file
In here you need to delete everything EXCEPT THE LAYOUT.INI FILE. DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE
Close that window and empty the recycle bin.

Reverse the above settings "Once finished, Click Start > Control Panel > Folder Options." and retick the boxes.

Uninstall Toolbars
Next uninstall the Tool Bars in explorer as these cause a lot of problems.
Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programmes. Uninstall Google toolbar and Yahoo Toolbar if you have one.
Once finished close Add / Remove programmes and control Panel.

Reset Internet Explorer
Next Click start > control panel > Internet Options. Click on the Advanced Tab.
Press the Reset... Button to reset Internet Explorer to its orginal settings.
This should keep your favourites but get rid of all your cookies.

Run Defrag
Start > All Programes > Accessories > System Tools disc defragmentation
Highlight your c drive and defrag

You should find that things speed up a little 😉

There are many other ways, but this is a basic process for those who are not whizz kids! 😀

Yes, if she were 1100 miles closer. We dropped GoToMYPC

after she and her Dad (#1 Son) were able to get my lap box

of wires and code and me cookin'. Remind me to tell you

sometime about your profile photo. Ties to my time in CA>

*warning* spraying with Sprite Zero could render your keyboard irreparably sticky.

ATF Cleaner is a small free program that does a lot of the above automatically. Handy for lazy buggers like myself!

And it is completely safe.
