xvid is the video codec in the borges file, and ac3 the audio codec. ffdshow shows xvid, provided it's not too old.

having trouble with the file is most likely caused by lack of xvid codec (or too old), OR multiple xvid codecs conflicting. the cure for the latter is to uninstall all xvid codecs, boot, and reinstall xvid. (ffdshow is still one of the better choices for xvid).
